SIMETAL DynaGap Soft Reduction® Package featuring the combination of SIMETAL Smart Segment and Siemens VAI´s thermal tracking module allows to dynamically adjust the roll-gap profile even under transient casting conditions.
Fully automatic strand-taper control
The challenge
Casters without the possibility for soft reduction frequently face problems with internal quality especially for pipe and plate grades. Static soft reduction only partly solves this problem since in dynamically changing casting conditions the pre-installed taper might not fit the area of final solidification. Additionally they do not have the possibility to make quick and simple remote changes of casting thickness due to different steel grades or varying casting speeds.
Our solution
The thermal tracking model of SIMETAL Dynacs precisely determines the final point of solidification, and the SIMETAL DynaGap model automatically adjusts the set points for the SIMETAL Smart Segment for an optimum roller gap. Thus even for changing casting speeds SIMETAL Smart Segments automatically readjust the roller gap taper for optimum soft reduction.
