The dynamic mold width adjustment system for higher plant productivity
SIMETAL DynaWidth is the technological package combining a hydraulic drive solution for fast width adjustment with an advanced control system. This product achieves slab width modification within shortest possible slab transition length and without casting speed reduction.
Extremely wide width adjustment
The challenge
Just-in-time production of customer orders requires changing the mold width more and more frequently while at the same time the increase of plant throughput is a permanent demand.
Our solution
SIMETAL DynaWidth is the Siemens VAI solution for fast remote width adjustment of slab caster molds allowing for fast width changes without the need of casting speed reduction. The adjustment is done by means of 4 hydraulic drives which are directly linked to the narrow faces of the mold. The technical solution can be realized even in case of revamps with very limited space available. Electric drives can be applied on demand.
