The SIROLL Camber Gauge provides
quantified feedback required to dramatically reduce
camber, allowing the engineer to determine what
adjustments to make to the right and left hydraulic
cylinders in the roughing mill to offset the camber and
improve the linearity of successive strips.
The system will also give a practical value to set the
opening of the side guides before entry to the crop
shear, as well as reducing the possibility of dangerous
and costly cobbles.
Increased linearity of the strip will ultimately lead to
an improvement in quality of the end product. SIROLL
Camber Gauge utilizes two cameras, typically separated
by approximately 1m downstream. The two stereo cameras
determine the position of the edges and hence the
centreline of the strip, the system is then able to
calculate the amount of camber and/or lateral shift of
the strip as it emerges from the roughing mill stand.
Camber Gauge has six installations worldwide.
