The SIROLL Crop Optim System minimises the
amount of wasted material by typically 0.3% to 0.4% of
the annual rolled tonnage, resulting in large savings
and a fast pay back.
The SIROLL Crop Optim system, utilises a
combination of stereo and single cameras between the
exit of the roughing mill stand and the entry to the
crop shear. The stereo camera determines the position of
the edges and, together with the single lens position
camera looking down web, is able to accurately determine
the contour and hence shape of the head and tail
sections.
This arrangement can be positioned at the entry to the
crop shear to evaluate the shape, optimise the crop
position, track the head or tail and control the shear.
Alternatively the two cameras can be positioned at the
exit of the last roughing stand and an additional single
lens camera is positioned at the entry to the crop
shear. This arrangement has the benefit of providing
both crop position evaluation and width measurement well
upstream of the crop shear. This allows operators to
visualise the optimised crop positions before the slab
reaches the shear. In both cases speed and position are
very accurately tracked right up to the shear, which
permits the system to compensate for any variations in
speed shortly before the crop.
A range of additional signals from other sensors
before/after the shear can also be processed to provide
a back up system.
Over 30 SIROLLCIS Crop-Optim systems are installed worldwide.
