The VVVF (Variable Voltage Variable Frequency) drive control system manages the rotational speed of an AC electric motor. In steelplant dedusting systems a damper or a VVVF control system can be used to control the waste gas flow rate. Considering the total cost of ownership, especially the increasing energy costs, VVVF control proves significant advantages.
VVVF Drive System
The dedusting system shall run cleanly, removing the large amount of off-gas coming from the production units, like electric arc furnaces, basic oxygen furnaces and AOD converters. High reliability, strict compliance with prescribed threshold values and reasonable energy consumption are the most important goals.
SIMETAL VVVF control system enables a cost-efficient frequency control system for the ID fan motor of the steel plant dedusting system. Depending on the actual plant situation (incoming power, required re-usage of existing motor) the existing control system can be upgraded with VVVF control.
The frequency converters are installed in a panel (pre-assembled, wired, painted, factory tested) and ready for installation and external connection.
The investment costs for the frequency system are higher compared to damper control system, but the yearly energy savings of VVVF Control lead to a payback time less than a year.
