Production of hot metal with COREX process and FINEX process is simplified because sintering and coking steps, necessary in the blast-furnace route, are eliminated. Siemens VAI is a licensee of MIDREX Technology for the production of direct-reduced iron (DRI) from iron ores and primarily natural gas. The close combination and linkage of DRI production with electric steelmaking technologies results in a compact plant layout and hot charging of the DRI to the steelmaking facility effects additional significant economical benefits.
The further development of the conventional hot strip rolling with the thin slab casting - rolling processes allows another significant simplification of the plant layout in Integrated Compact Mills. The next generation in this technology is the Arvedi ESP- Endless Strip Production - plant.
Dependant on your particular requirements with respect to available raw materials and products Siemens VAI develops the best possible plant process conceptions for your cost effective and highly productive Integrated Compact Mill.

For the process turnkey model Siemens VAI supports you as the main contractor for the process, whereas the turnkey part lies in your hands, and you can freely utilize your in-house competences and resources.
At the turnkey service model you benefit from excellence in design solutions and project management services from Siemens VAI for the so called „Balance of Plant“ portion, whereas purchase of these turnkey items is under your control.
For the full turnkey model Siemens VAI acts as your main contractor and will take care on the process as well as on the Balance of Plant portion too.
