The main objectives in Coke Battery Control are maintaining stable and disturbance free processes and producing high quality coke according to Blast Furnace requirements. These priorities must be fulfilled when minimizing energy costs and ensuring increased productivity and maximum battery service life. The above objectives are attained by applying the Coking Process Management System (CPMS). CPMS is an optimizing state-of-the-art control system for stable and unstable battery conditions. CPMS facilitates the process operator’s work remarkably.
CPMS is designed for the real-time processing of measured data, process model calculations for optimizing process functions, and reporting and monitoring. The system includes data collection, as well as storing the data in a database. With process models based on the above functions, CPMS provides fast and up-to-date information on the status of the coking process, in a manner that supports the process operators in short and long-term decision-making with regard to controlling the coke battery stably and efficiently. The main tasks of CPMS are optimizing battery heating and scheduling the coke oven machine operations.
